RCMP took a man and woman into custody and dismantled a pair of marijuana grow-ops in the 4000 block of Erie-Ross Spur Road last week.

With the help of traffic services, the integrated safety unit, general investigation section, and police dog service, a search warrant was executed on two properties, and three homes were searched, turning up the “sophisticated” grow ops.

“Also seized during the search was an improperly stored firearm and several other weapons,” says Sgt. Derrick Donovan. Two people were arrested and about 250 plants in various stages of growth as well as several pounds of dried bud were seized.

Charges have not yet been approved.

Donovan says the investigation began with a traffic stop in May in which 21 plants and several pounds of dried bud were seized from two men in the Salmo area.

They’ll be in court in July.
