After two years of no parades and restricted attendance at ceremonies, Nelson’s Nov. 11 Remembrance Day events are back on track this year.
The day will begin with a service at 8 a.m. in the veterans’ area at the cemetery.
Later in the morning, the Remembrance Day parade will begin at 10:45 a.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion at 402 Victoria St. and will travel down Stanley Street, along Baker Street to Josephine Street, down Josephine to Vernon Street, and then to the cenotaph on Ward Street.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.
“We would like to see a great turnout this year,” said Legion president Bill Haire. “And we may have that, because people have been cooped up so long with COVID.”
After the ceremony, which is expected to take 45 minutes, the Legion is offering a free light lunch to the public at its Victoria Street location.
