Selkirk College student dies from ski injury

Police say a 20-year-old Nelson man who died using a makeshift ski ramp was not wearing a helmet.

Police say a 20-year-old Nelson man who died using a makeshift ski ramp was not wearing a helmet.

The incident occurred early on November 25.

While using the ramp that he and a friend built, the man fell and struck his head. Although he was hurt, he didn't seek medical attention.

Later that morning, the man, originally from Edmonton, returned to his home but a few hours later was found unconscious. The veteran skier was then airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital where he died.

Global BC has identified the victim as Will Schooler.

He was taking a ski resort management course at Selkirk College.
