Slocan Valley residents are invited to attend an informal community meeting on responsible dog ownership on May 19.

“The intent is to let residents know what kind of response to expect from the Regional District of Central Kootenay, the SPCA and the RCMP when they report concerns about aggressive dogs,” says area director Walter Popoff.

The event is at the Crescent Valley community hall from 7 to 9 p.m.

Popoff polled residents by mail in 2011 about an animal control service, but more than two-thirds of residents responded that they didn’t want one.

Animal control is provided in other parts of the regional district, including rural areas around Nelson.
