UPDATE: Small fire south of Nelson under control

The Gold Creek fire is near Cottonwood Lake Regional Park

A small fire that was discovered south of Nelson near Highway 6 is now under control.

The Gold Creek fire, located west of the highway and just north of Cottonwood Lake Regional Park, is 0.015 hectares large.

BC Wildfire Service says it was discovered Friday and is suspected to have been caused by lightning. The fire is listed as under control thanks to suppression efforts.
