Stacey satisfied with seniors parking

City councillor Margaret Stacey is happy with the numbers presented by city staff around seniors parking passes.

In July, councillor Stacey stated her concerns about the use of seniors parking passes in the city, and asked that city staff look into the numbers of passes being issued.

The numbers were presented at Monday’s council meeting and Stacey said they didn’t reflect what she thought was going on.

“I have received an incredible amount of flack over this. The seniors are alive and kicking,” she said.

The number of seniors parking passes issued were at it’s highest in 2005 at 407 and the lowest number issued was in 2007 when 361 passes were given out.

So far this year 387 seniors parking passes have been issued.

“Boomers are starting to feel like every seniors privilege is being yanked away and I think that this is something we can do for seniors,” said Stacey.
