Three candidates are running for Salmo Village Council in a municipal byelection.

Jonathan Heatlie, Anne Williams and Tanya Forbes are vying for a seat left vacant when Todd Wallace resigned in January. Wallace suffers from Parkinson’s disease and decided he could not continue on council.

Heatlie was a member of the previous council and ran unsuccessfully for mayor against Diana Lockwood in the October 2022 municipal election.

Williams, who retired as the village administrator in 2022, ran unsuccessfully for council in the October election.

The nomination period for the byelection expired on Jan. 20 and the vote will be held on Feb. 25.
