A section Baker Street has been closed to traffic after a broken watermain flooded the basements of several buildings.
The City of Nelson said in a release Thursday that the watermain on the south side of the 500 block of Baker was under repair after it broke sometime in the night.
Nelson Fire and Rescue, and Public Works, are pumping water out of basements while Nelson Hydro has restored power to most of the buildings impacted.
BC Transit buses are parking on the south side of the street in front of the BCAA building for the time being while work is underway.
