Two new cases of COVID-19 in Nelson area

The Nelson Health Area had two new cases of COVID-19 during the week of Jan. 10 to 16, according to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.

The two cases are in addition to the 10 previously announced for the week of Jan. 3 to 9. Salmo and Ymir are included in the Nelson Health Area.

The West Kootenay were otherwise affected by the pandemic during the week. Only one case was added to the Arrow Lakes Health Area, while no new cases were discovered in Trail, Grand Forks, Castlegar, Creston and Kootenay Lake areas.

Twenty new cases were confirmed in the Fernie area, while Cranbrook added seven.

Nelson’s area had 53 total cases in 2020.
