Two people arrested for logging protest near Argenta

The pair were blocking the logging road where 17 others were arrested in May

Two more people have been arrested for blocking a contentious logging road near Argenta.

RCMP said in a statement Wednesday that a man and woman were arrested June 1 for demonstrating on Salisbury Forest Service Road and violating an injunction granted to West Kootenay timber company Cooper Creek Cedar.

The incident took place at the same site where at least 17 people were previously arrested on May 17 for protesting planned logging on the Argenta-Johnsons Landing Face.

On June 1, police say a group was again blocking the road. All but the two people who were arrested moved aside when asked.

The pair were released on the condition of appearing at court date July 19.
