Snow is expected to touch down in a few East Kootenay communities in the coming days, starting Nov. 10.
Elk Valley, Columbia Valley, Cranbrook and Yahk will all see flurries. The Elk Valley will receive a significant amount of snow and a weather advisory has been issued. The Columbia Valley, Cranbrook and Yahk will see smaller amounts of snow mixed with rain.
In the Elk Valley, flurries will begin on Friday morning (Nov. 10) and continue to Sunday morning . The area will receive one to three centimeters on the first day and 10 to 15 centimeters on Saturday.
Cranbrook will see light snowfall starting Friday morning. Snow accumulation is predicted to reach two centimeters. Warm temperatures will bring mixed precipitation on Saturday, including five millimeters of rain.
Scattered flurries will begin on Friday morning in Yahk with one centimeter of snow and then turn to rain on Saturday — a 10 to 15 millimeter downpour.
Columbia Valley will have the milder weather. Mixed precipitation consisting of five millimeters of rain and one centimeter of snow will fall on the region starting Saturday.
Drivers should be on the lookout for road crews, who are working to pre-treat the highways with liquid anti-ice. They are advised to use caution and prepare for weather delays, and to check www.drivebc.ca before heading out.
