It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Anna passed away peacefully in her sleep with her beloved granddaughter, Ashley, by her side. Anna was born in Laghi, Vincenza, Italy to Piero and Sincera Genero. She was the eldest of six children. She worked very hard as a young child tending to the farm and cooking for the family. She married Gilio Mogentale in 1948 and they moved to Canada with their young son Ilario (Larry) in 1952 looking for a better life. Anna worked as a cook at the bus depot for nearly 30 years then moved on to cook at the Hume hotel for almost 13 years before retiring. Her family was everything to her and growing a garden and cooking for them and all her friends and neighbours is what made Anna happy. Even the neighbourhood pets had a full belly when they left after their daily visit. Nobody left Anna’s hungry! When all were fed and the pasta sauce was stirred and her amazing donuts were cooling, Anna would retire to her favourite spot on the deck where she would spend countless hours watching the sun go down. The last few months of her life Anna received amazing care from the staff at Mountain Lakes and very special and loving care from her good friends Val and Betty. Anna will be missed dearly by all that knew her. Anna is survived by her only child Larry (Darlene), grandchildren Ashley (Colin), Roberto (Julie), great grandchildren (who made her heart melt) Ethan, Lily, Isabella and Ariela. She was predeceased by her husband Gilio in 2013, brothers Mario in 1948 and Rino in 2016. Anna didn’t like people to fuss over her so, as she wished, a funeral will not take place.
