In Loving Memory ~

Dolores (Anne) Corbett, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, in Nelson after a short battle with cancer.

Anne was born to Doris (Willford) and Henry Horne of Vallican BC on October 17, 1936, the oldest sister to Arline Davis and Bonnie Russell. Anne spent her entire life moving between the west and east Kootenays.

She graduated high school grade 13, in Cranbrook in 1954. This is where she discovered her passion and a lifelong career in education.

She received her teacher's training at Normal School in Victoria in 1956 and briefly moved to Prince Rupert for work, later moving back to Nelson in 1957 to continue her teaching career.

She married Allan Ferguson on December 26, 1960, and spent much of her time skiing, playing tennis and racing up and down the west arm in Allan's boat. Anne and Allan had two sons, Blair and Scott Ferguson. Anne and her two boys moved to Cranbrook in 1969, where she began work with School District #5. Skiing and camping with her boys made up the bulk of weekends and vacations.

Anne was remarried to Ronald Corbett in Cranbrook on June 28, 1980; she welcomed four stepchildren Heather Lenos, William Corbett, Deirdrie Leney and Jeanine Bonson. Anne and Ron moved back to Nelson the same year. Anne accepted a teaching job at Hume School in September 1983, where she shared her love of education with hundreds of students until her retirement in June 1996. Anne and Ron enjoyed their retirement years square dancing and camping with the Good Sam Club, where they met so many new friends.

Anne is predeceased by her husband Ron in 2016. She is survived by her two sons and four stepchildren, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Family and close friends will remember Anne's endlessly cheerful disposition and adventurous spirit.

A celebration of life will be held at the United Church in Nelson in the spring of 2025 where Anne and Ron celebrated their faith together.
