August 30, 1924 - March 16, 2019
On Saturday, March 16, 2019, Antonio Sousa passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years.

Antonio was born August 30, 1924 in Boliqueime, Portugal. He was one of five children born to Joaƒo and Isabel. He began learning his skills as a carpenter early from his father. As a young man he was employed building Naval ships in Lisbon. He married his wife Jacinta on February 12, 1955.

Immigrated to Canada in 1957, flying to Montreal then boarding a passenger train to Nelson, BC.

He went to work for the CPR in the Bridge & Building department, spending many years as a bench carpenter. Recognized for his skills, he was often asked by friends and colleagues if he could do projects for them, Tony would rather oblige than say no.

He had a very friendly demeanour and a great deal of patients. He enjoyed fishing, winemaking, growing his incredible vegetable garden and his many trips back to the old country.

He will sadly be missed by his wife Jacinta, his son Nelson, his daughter Fatima, other family and great friends.

The family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Jubilee Manor for looking after Tony. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, 813 Ward St, on March 21, 2019 at 10:30 am.
