Art was born at Mott Hill Ranch in Elko. He went to school there until he was in grade 8. At the age of 14 he went to work in the coal mines with his dad. Art moved to Salmo in 1951 and married Ruth in 1952. They had 3 children: Art, Esther, and Ed. He worked in the logging industry most of his life, but ended his working years at the Department of Highways in Salmo. He retired in 1996. He enjoyed boating, camping, motorcycling, and most importantly, spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Edna, brothers Bill and Carl, son Art, daughter Paige, granddaughters Charlotte and Carmen, and great grandsons Cody and Trevor. He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Esther, son Ed, brother Jim, sisters Elnora and Elaine, 15 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is sadly missed by all!
