On March 4th, 2018, Basil Parker passed away at Jubilee Manor in Nelson, BC at the age of 88.

Basil was predeceased by his mother (Florence), father (Wilbur), wife (Dorothy), brother (Paul) and son (Nathan). He leaves behind sons Kevin (Lorna), Tim (Lillian), Scott (Cynthia) and daughter Andrea (John). He will also be missed by his Five Sisters, Brother, Grandchildren Angie, Jeff, Amy, Matthew, Robin & Kelly, and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Basil was born and raised in Bear River, NS. At the age of 19 he came out West to enroll at the Prairie Bible Institute for one year then headed back East to attend Berkshire Christian College in Boston, MA. There he met and married Dorothy Ladd of Scotstown, QC in 1952.

By 1964 they decided to move to the Okanagan Valley with their 4 young children, son Nathan arrived the following year in Penticton, BC.

Basil discovered Golden, BC in 1967, and worked in Television Repair and later in the Forest Industry until retirement in 1994. He was an active member of the Free Methodist Church, which later became Rocky Mountain Alliance. Basil loved to garden and could often be found helping in other people's gardens. He enjoyed sharing his vegetables and flowers with many neighbours and friends. He was a skilled handyman and an enthusiastic participant with the Golden Rock Club.

In 2005 Basil & Dorothy moved with daughter Andrea & John to a hobby farm outside Nelson, BC to live out their final years.

A Graveside service will be held this summer at the Golden Cemetery. The family is comforted by the scripture recorded in 1 Thessalonians 4:14 "We believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him."
