After a brief but courageously fought battle with cancer, Beatrice Verigin (nee Shkuratoff) passed away at Kootenay Lake Hospital on September 7, 2020 at the age of 76.
Born in Pincher Creek, Alberta to Nick and Mabel Shkuratoff, Beatrice lived the bulk of her life in Slocan Park with her final years spent in Castlegar BC.
Beatrice will always be remembered for her community involvement in Slocan Park as part of the Hall Society, on Fall Fair Fundraisers, or the ladies groups as well as being an active member of the USCC, be it on peace walks, in the cooking groups, or choral singing with the Slocan Valley choir.
Predeceased by her parents, her brothers Nick and John, sisters Polly, Helen, Lillian, Doris, and her son Peter. Beatrice was also predeceased by her in-laws Bill and Florence Verigin.
Survived by her loving husband, Lewie of 58 years; son Brent (Teresa) Verigin, grandson Brenden; daughter Karen (Matt) Plotnikoff; and her furry grandkids, Levi and Charlie.
The family would like to thank Dr. Phillip Malpass, Dr. Brandon Tuvel, Dr. Chris Cochrane and all the staff at the Kootenay Lake Hospital for their care, compassion and kindness.
Her service was held at the Slocan Park Community Hall on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 under the direction of Peter P. Relkoff with interment at the Slocan Park Doukhobor Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements made by Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to the USCC or to Iskra would be greatly accepted.
