October 10, 1960 - June 3, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Brooks Freeman Russell. Brooks passed away suddenly on the afternoon of June 3rd, 2020, at the age of 59 years.
Brooks was born October 10, 1960 in Calgary, AB, to Norm and MJ Russell. He grew up in a skiing family, and later went on to work at the family business, Norm's Ski Hut. He relocated to Nelson, BC in 2006, where he fulfilled his dream of living amongst the mountains and beside Kootenay Lake.
Brooks is survived by his three loving daughters, Emma, Dasha, and Sophia, as well as his siblings, Andi, Dan (Bonita), and Kori (Marty), nieces and nephews, and many dear friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents, Norm and MJ. Brooks leaves behind an abundant and loving community of friends throughout the city of Nelson.
In talking with some of Brooks' good friends, we have shared a laugh about his inability to make it down half a block without running into someone that he knew and cared for. Brooks had an infectious personality and always knew how to make us laugh, and that is how he will be remembered.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brooks can be made to the Friendship Outreach Clubhouse. Cheques can be made out to "Interior Health" and sent to 818 Vernon St. Nelson, BC, V1L 4G4, and will go directly into supporting their programs. If you would like a tax receipt, please indicate so in the memo on the bottom of the cheque. A gathering has yet to be arranged due to current restrictions, details will be available as soon as we are allowed to gather.
