In Loving Memory ~

With profound sorrow and love, we announce the passing of our mother Concetta Arabia, a beloved mother, nonna, sister, and friend. Concetta peacefully departed this world on December 6, 2024, surrounded by her family.

Born to Frank and Virginia Maida on January 26, 1931, in Aprigliano, Italy. At the age of 25 Concetta immigrated to Canada with her parents, brothers and sister. Once in Canada, she worked at the Greyhound bus station, Mount St. Francis, and then the Hume Hotel for 30 years, where she discovered her passion for cooking. Concetta was a woman of extraordinary strength and kindness. She was quick-witted and never forgot a story, face or name.

Her culinary skills were unparalleled, and her home was always filled with the comforting aroma of homemade Italian food, where family and friends gathered to enjoy her loving hospitality.

Connie's life was a testament to the power of love and dedication. She was a pillar of strength for her family, always putting her children's needs before her own. Her patience and unwavering support will forever be remembered by her children, Frank (Lorraine Tarasoff), Leonard (Jackie), Sam, Liane, and Rosemary (Mike Gagnier).

She will be greatly missed by the pride and joys of her life her grandchildren Kyle, Brittany, Ryan, Nicole, Grayson, Daniel, Eamon and Kristin.

She was preceded by her husband Antonio, son Carmin, and daughter-in-law Nina.

Connie's legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her. She leaves behind many cherished memories and a lasting impact on our hearts.

A special thanks to Dr Kirsten for the years he cared for Mom and to the third-floor nurses for all the kind and compassionate care they gave Mom at the end.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30am, December 13, 2024, at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate in Nelson, BC, with entombment at the Nelson Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kootenay Lake Hospital.

Rest in peace, dear Mom. Your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
