October 18, 1942 - February 16, 2023
In loving memory ~
A beloved husband, brother, uncle, son, and friend, Dale Emile Deschamps passed away peacefully, after a battle with Alzheimer's on February 16th, 2023, at the age of 80 under exceptional care at Kootenay Lake Hospital. Left to hold him in their hearts are his brother Louis (Jean), his niece and nephews Rhonda (Reine), Shane (Sarah), and Chad (Jennie), and his grandnieces and grandnephews. Dale was predeceased by his loving wife, Susie, his brother, Wayne, and his parents, Emile and Theresa.
Dale was born on October 18th, 1942, in Kimberly, B.C. and grew up working hard on the family farm in Creston. Life on the farm was not always easy but Dale had fond memories of caring for the animals on the property. His bond with his brothers was strong and he shared many special memories with them over the years. While the Deschamps boys often butted heads, there was no doubt the brothers all had each other's backs and looked out for one another.
Growing up with a heart for farming and country lent itself to his adult life, as well. He was an avid outdoorsman and a vintage car enthusiast. After leaving home he moved to Nelson where he met his great love and wife, Susie, and together they bought a home they shared with their chubby and loyal dog, Jackie. Dale had a strong work ethic and a tremendous amount of grit and resilience that served him well in his 47-year career as an underground contract driller in the mines. He had a cheeky sense of humour and a heart of solid gold, and he will be missed dearly and remembered fondly by everyone who knew him.
The family will be having a private burial ceremony. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to the Alzheimer's Society of British Columbia.
