In Loving Memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Denise (Dee) Gotell. Denise left this earth for her heavenly home On October 31, 2023 at the age of 64. Denise, Known as Dee to her friends, was born in Saint John New Brunswick on February 2nd, 1959.

She is predeceased by her parents Charles and Rita Mitchell. Dee was the only girl and the youngest of 5 children, with 4 brothers Gary, Ronnie, Charlie and Greg Mitchell.

Denise suffered a gunshot wound to her left hip in her youth but through this trial, found Jesus, forever changing the course of her life and she used her testimony to encourage others. Her strength and determination and one miracle led her to walking again for many years to come.

Denise Married Kevin Gotell on Aug 4th, 1979 and together had two daughters Michelle Mckechnie (Will) and Sarah Klan (Mark). Dee was a proud Grandmother to Five grandchildren, Malcolm, Matthew, Brett, Selah and Finley.

Dee moved to Quesnel BC in 1988 where she enjoyed farm life. Then to Kaslo BC where she attended Selkirk College in Pursuit of her GED and Computer programing. In 2006 she would make her home in Nelson BC.

Dee found a church family at Kootenay Christian Fellowship and loved her time volunteering at our daily bread where she was able to live out her calling to help feed the hungry and enthusiastically participate in Sunday worship with her tambourine, while she was able.

Dee's most recent home was at Mountain Lakes assisted living where she had an amazing community of friends that would become family. Their love for her was evident except when she was winning at bingo!

Dee's health declined due to chronic infection and her last weeks were spent with her daughters and close friends by her side. The KBRH team of Doctors as well nurses and support staff's care went beyond our hopes doing their best to make sure Dee was as comfortable as possible. Their kindness won't soon be forgotten. Special thank-you to Dr. Ham and Dr. Lum.
