In loving memory ~

August 1946 - January 2025

Diane was born in Kamloops, BC, the first child of Bill and Doreen Bird. They lived in various communities in both BC and Alberta. She completed high school in Winfield (now Lake Country), BC and subsequently attended the University of Victoria and became a primary school teacher.

In 1973 she married Harvey Boyes, and they resided in Sorrento, BC, Yellowknife, NWT and central BC before settling in Nelson in 1984. Daughter Candice arrived in 1976 followed by son Robbie in 1978. Those were very busy years.

Diane loved baking and assembled an extensive collection of cookbooks. Her "kuchen" and Christmas baking were well received from BC to Germany. She took great pride in her grandchildren and enjoyed having them help in the kitchen.

She and Harvey made several trips to the US South where they enjoyed visiting a close friend and former neighbour. They also took trips to Germany in 2008 and 2009 where they visited daughter-in-law Anna's parents and "walked in the footsteps" of their ancestors.

Diane was predeceased by both of her parents and her stepfather. She is survived by her husband Harvey, daughter Candice Ismay (Kirk), son Robbie (Anna Sloan), and grandchildren/step grandchildren: Andrea, Jessica, Lily, Beverly, Melissa, Anthony and several great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Jim and Allan.

Special thanks to the many health care professionals in Nelson and Trail who helped Diane through the last few difficult months.
