(Harold) Don Kettlewell passed away peacefully with family at his side in Toronto on Saturday, April 2, 2016.
Don was born in Nelson, BC on July 14, 1933 and grew up loving and respecting the great outdoors (‘the bush’ as he called it). He attended school in Nelson and later St. Andrews Academy in Toronto before graduating from LV Rogers in Nelson. He fell in love and married his first wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Wilson and had four children: Leah, Pete, Nona and Marcy. He worked for the city of Nelson before working at Celgar in Castlegar B.C. Don and Liz separated amicably and Don moved back to Toronto. He fell in love and married his second wife Zsuzsanna (Zsuzsi) and had their son, Brian together. Don retired from Cadillac Fairview in 1998 where he worked as a Stationary Engineer.
Don is survived by his wife Zsuzsanna (Zsuzsi) Paska, children Leah (Ward) Nelson, Pete (Eileen) Kettlewell, Nona Kettlewell (Inge Wenngren), Marcy Kettlewell and Brian Kettlewell (Jee Young Kim) and his loving grandchildren Justin (Heather) Nelson, Spencer Kettlewell and Damen Masson. Hannah and Jack made Don a great grandfather.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date when we return his ashes to Nelson and the surrounding area where he can remain peacefully among the mountains and Kootenay Lake that he so dearly loved.
