At home, with family by her side, Donna slipped away to join the heavenly choir on July 26, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Serge; daughters Jennifer Preston (Mat) and Susan Nesbitt (Jason) and granddaughters Adalyn Preston and Abigail Nesbitt; and brother David Berry (Sandra). Donna was a lively spirit that lived life to the fullest. She loved children and thoroughly enjoyed her teaching career. Aside from the classroom Donna had a passion for music. She loved to entertain and her numerous and somewhat famous potlucks had to have games, music and song. In retirement Donna dabbled at golf, puttered in the yard and performed with the Second Wind music group. A love for travel with wonderful friends were joyous occasions with Hawaii becoming her favourite and an annual event. Donna’s family is overwhelmed at the compassion and support received over the past 3 months from her wide social network. We acknowledge our wonderful neighbours considered as family, Nancy and Wayne Haukaas; Marlene Pozin and the rest of the “IBTC”; her golfing buddies (Jan, Betty, Mary Ann, Sheila); her Second Wind group; Doris and Peter Latkin and the “hood”; and special long-time friends Sharon and Leroy Mowery, John and Evelyn Briscall and Linda Taylor. We are also grateful that Dave and Sandy Berry were able to be with us through it all. A special thank you to Dr. Kirsten and Dr. Malpass for their compassionate care of Donna. No service by request – cremation has taken place. Those wishing can make donations in Donna’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society or Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation.
A body gone – a spirit lives.
