In Loving Memory ~

Doug was born at Kootenay Lake Regional Hospital. He attended elementary school at the old Procter Schoolhouse and graduated from LV Rogers. Through his early years, he was an avid hockey player and a Goaltender for the Beaver Valley Night Hawks in the early 90s.

In his adult life, Doug was driving locally throughout the Kootenay Region. In 2004, he married Serene Dumont, and in 2006, their son Norman was born. Sadly, that relationship did not last, and Serene and Norman moved to Burnaby.

At this time, Doug obtained his Class 1 licence and started the solitary life of a long-haul trucker. His work brought him to many interesting areas of the US and Canada, including the Northwest Territories.

Doug was a dedicated lover of sports... hockey and soccer mostly but had a keen interest in Football as well. Doug had a passion for fishing on Kootenay Lake in his boat.

Sadly, Doug had battled depression for a lot of his adult life. He was diagnosed with Bi-Polar Schizophrenia in his early 40s.

The last three years for Doug were difficult, but life seemed to be looking up for him. Doug and his family had hope for his future. He liked being alone but would always welcome a conversation with his Son Norman and his Mother Marianne.

Doug you will always be missed and so deeply loved wherever you are. Rest In Peace, Doug.... Father, Son, Brother and Friend.

Doug is survived by his son Norman, parents Marianne and Jim and his sister JoAnne (Lee).

He will be cremated and brought home in May by his sister and partner. There will be no service.

The family would like to thank the wonderful folks at Elmbrook Supportive Housing in Surrey B.C., who were helping Doug with his mental health issues. Their kind words and adoration of Doug mean a lot to us.
