Eda “Edith” Orlando (nee DeGirolamo) passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on Friday, August 26, 2016.

Eda was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Armando “Diamond” Orlando, her son-in-law George J. Bush, her parents Gaetano “Mike” and Emilia (Peccoli) DeGirolamo, her brothers Alfred, Charlie and Johnny DeGirolamo and her sisters Mary Buchignani and Georgina DeGirolamo. She is survived by her brother George DeGirolamo and sister Flora Cameron; her children Linda Tognotti (Ray), Robert Orlando (Marg), Lola Bush, and Debbie Allsup (Ray); her grandchildren Lori Perry, Ray Tognotti Jr., Stephen Tognotti, Julie Howard, David Orlando, Jeff Bush, Jennifer Griffin, Courtney Shaffer and Brittany Allsup; six great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Eda was born in Nelson, BC on February 18, 1921. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Nelson, married Diamond in 1941, both settling in Trail until moving to San Francisco in 1963 where they lived for 32 years. In 1995, to be nearer to family, they moved to Brentwood, CA and then to Simi Valley, CA in 2005. After Diamond’s passing, Eda returned to Brentwood in 2009. For the past four years, she has resided at the Memory Care Village at The Commons in Antioch, CA near her daughter Debbie. Over the years, Eda was very involved with Star of the Sea Parish, volunteering both at the school and in the rectory. Some years later, Eda proudly worked as a bookkeeper at Bank of America for 13 years.

Eda’s pride and joy was her family and she delighted in cooking and baking for the enjoyment of others. She was a generous and loving person whose beautiful smile will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 10:00 am at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate in Nelson. Interment will follow at Nelson Memorial Park Cemetery, followed by a reception at St. Joseph’s Parish Hall.
