SHRIEVES, EDITH ALETHEA Our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandmother passed away Feb 10 2010 after a short illness. Edith, one of the dearest ladies you could ever meet, was born in Treviscoe, St. Austell, England on October 30, 1926. Moving to Noranda Quebec with her parents at the age of 2 and then onto Nelson in 1942. She attended LV Rogers and left school early to start her banking career and shortly after met the love of her life, Chuck, whom she married in 1947. They raised four children; Bob, Charlie, Brenda and Barrie, and except for some time off to raise the children, she continued to be employed at local banks until her retirement. Edith was an active member of Shriners Lady Auxiliar, United Church, Legion Executive and Auxiliary, and other local Lodges, spending many hours helping with events for local functions. She traveled extensively after retirement with dear friends and family. Singing, playing the piano and dancing were her favourite pastimes, along with gardening, cross country skiing and baking cookies for the neighbourhood children who would show up with her two granddaughters. Edith was predeceased by her husband Chuck, daughter Brenda, granddaughter Kelsey, her parents Fred and Louisa Williams, and her sister Eileen Clark. She is survived by her sons Robert (Maeve) of Richmond BC, Charlie (Marg), Barrie (joanne), grandchildren Ryan, Jennie (Dom), Aaron (Anne), Courtney and Payton. Great grandchildren Aspyn, Austin, and the newest addition to her family Alexandra Alethea. Brother Stan (Mel) Williams, and sister Barb (Syl) Benedetti, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services have been held, Reverend David Boyd officiating. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery. Thompson Funeral Home in care.
