It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Eric Erickson in Nelson, BC.
Eric was born in Erickson, Manitoba, and moved to BC as a young child. He settled with his family in BC and spent the rest of his life here.
Eric was an avid reader, and lifelong learner. After working for the Department of Highways on Vancouver Island for many years, he attended BCIT, and took his Steam Engineers' ticket. He and his wife Pat and son John moved to Nelson in 1972, where Eric was employed at KFP as a steam engineer until it closed, he then worked for Teck Cominco in Trail until his retirement in 1995.
Eric's happiest years were those spent in Nelson with his partner Flo, and her extended family. He enjoyed many travelling adventures with Flo travelling to many destinations in their RV enjoying the snowbird lifestyle. They belonged to two different RV clubs. The Nelson Kokanee Sam Club and The Bus Nuts so many memorable trips and fun social get togethers were had.
One very memorable trip and a real high light was driving they're RV down to the Baja Mexico with two other family members. They also enjoyed many cruises and several trips to Mexico with family and friends.
Eric and Flo were avid card players meeting with their card group once a week when possible and later attending the Senior Center card group. Eric enjoyed being a member of the Nelson Legion, where he participated on the Darts Team that attended the Seniors' Games for many years.
Eric also enjoyed golfing with his cronies and spent many happy hours at the Salmo Golf Course.
He is survived by Florence Cameron, Rick, (Linda), Jeanne, Mike, (Carrie) and their families, his son John in Toronto, and his sister Eva Borne. Marjie, (Mitch), Laurie, (Brian), Kirsten, (Max, Danica, Hannah) Jesse (Erica). He was much loved and will be missed by all.
