Ernest Roy Officer

January 4, 1933 - September 30, 2010

Officer, Ernest Roy of Nelson, BC passed away on September 30th, at his home in his 77th year. Dear father of Grant Officer of Toronto, Michael Officer and wife Rebecca of St. Thomas, Benjamin Officer and wife Lisa of Edmonton, Alberta. Loving grandfather of Eric, Elaine, Natalie, Devon and Samuel. Brother of CONTACT _Con-398410133D Shirley Bonney (widow of Rueben) and the late Richard Grant Officer. He was predeceased by his nephew Richard Officer, niece Alison Bonney and great-nephew Adam Sneyd. Numerous nieces and nephews remain to miss him.

Roy was born on January 4th, 1933 in Calgary, where he lived until moving to Vancouver with his family in his later teen years. After studying at the University of BC, Acadia University, and the University of Minnesota, he enjoyed a teaching career in the Geography Department of Waterloo Lutheran University (now Wilfrid Laurier University), and subsequently at the University of Waterloo. Upon retirement he moved to Nelson in the West Kootenay area of BC. Roy valued and enjoyed teaching and learning. He was an amateur history buff, especially concerning events of the Second World War. His compassionate nature will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held on Friday, October 8, 2010 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Thompson Funeral Service 613 Ward St. Nelson, BC.
