November 30, 2016 - December 7, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet Everest.

Everest Lawrence Conboy was born to Cory Conboy and Nicole Ripley on November 30, 2016, in Kelowna, BC. A brother to Avery, Eli, and little Archer, who arrived three years later.

Everest attended BK Learning Centre, Mountain Montessori Preschool, and Forest Path School before starting Kindergarten at Blewett Elementary. He was an eager and curious young learner who looked forward to school every day. He loved playing hockey during recess and lunch, helping many friends learn the game and including anyone who wanted to join.

Everest was a true sports enthusiast, playing on many teams in Nelson, including soccer, baseball, Nelson Neptunes Swim Club, taekwondo, and hockey. He loved spending time with his teammates as they worked together to achieve their goals. A fan of the Vancouver Canucks, he was thrilled to recently attend a game in Vancouver.

Everest also enjoyed individual sports, including golfing with his mom, Mike, Archer, Nana, and Deda. He was on a snowboard at the age of one and began skiing on his own at three, later switching to snowboarding this past year. He also loved biking and spent many hours riding trails and taking jumps with his dad and siblings.

Everest spent many afternoons at the Nelson Youth Centre, where he was especially interested in the Science Club. In his spare time, he loved building with Lego, playing Nintendo Switch and tennis, jumping on the trampoline, and flying down the slip 'n slide on hot summer days. He was thrilled to drive his cousin's quad, always giving rides to his little brother and cousins.

A lover of the outdoors, Everest spent much time camping, swimming at Taghum Beach and building campfires.

He passed peacefully, surrounded by family and love, on Saturday, December 7.

Everest is survived by his mother, Nicole Ripley, and stepfather, Mike Ballance; his father, Cory Conboy, and partner, Jessica MacLeod; his grandparents, Larry and Maureen Veregin, James and Shelley Ripley, Al and Mary Conboy, Viola Conboy, and great-grandmother, Bernice Galpin; his siblings, Avery, Eli, and Archer; Jess's children, Katie, Mac, and Gavin MacLeod; his aunts and uncles, Melissa (Sham) Goundar, Tyler Ripley, Lanny (Carole) Veregin, Sasha Veregin, Tara (Cameron) Takacs, and Nicole Conboy; cousins Aurora, Trenton, Ollie, Mabel, Luke, Samantha, Jacob, and Aiden; and his godmother, Rosie Nardi. He was predeceased by his great-grandfather, Albert Galpin (2023).

Everest was a true gift to this world. He made friends easily with everyone he met and was full of love, inclusivity, kindness, creativity, and an endless adventurous spirit. He was deeply loved by so many.

We will miss you, our sweet Everest.

Rest in peace.
