Flora Ann (Flo) Franklin (nee McKay) of Nelson B.C. passed away May 10, 2018 at the age of 89 years at the Kootenay Lake Hospital, Nelson B.C. Flo is survived by her husband of 62 years, Duff Franklin, Nelson B.C., three sons Gordon (Christine), and Jeffrey (Delinda) all of Edmonton, AB, and Donald (Darlene) of Calgary, AB, eight grand children and three great grandchildren.
Flo was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Jean McKay, four brothers and three sisters.
Flo was born in Edmonton, AB and grew up in the town of Waskatenau, AB, obtained her R.N degree in Edmonton and practiced nursing in hospitals in Stettler, AB., and Camrose, AB, for 25 years. She married her husband in 1956 while working in Stettler and they moved to Camrose, AB where where she nursed at the St. Mary's Hospital and the Bethany Auxiliary Hospital and raised her family.
Flo and her husband moved to Nelson BC. in 1996 where she resided until her death.
At Flo's request, there will be no formal funeral service. A family memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and as an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Kootenay Lake Hospital, 3 View Street, Nelson BC VIL 2Vl.
