June 20, 1929 - December 21, 2019
Frances passed peacefully on December 21, 2019 at the age of 90, embraced by the love of her family. Mom was born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia on June 20, 1929 to Michael and Anastazia Burta. Predeceased by husband Ernest, stepchildren Walter, Eric and Patricia Foster who all welcomed her into the afterlife with open arms. Cherished mother of Maggie Mulvihill (Chris), Frannie Brooks (James), Ernie (Norma), Alfred, Charles and stepson Brian (Wendy). Loving grandmother to 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 5 nieces and 2 nephews. Loving sister of Amelia (Frank) Valley. A special thank you to Dr. Kelly Mieske, Dr. Kubara, Dr. Malpass and all the amazing nursing staff and volunteers at Kootenay Lake Hospital, Nelson Home Support, and Nelson Hospice.
Momma loved to play shuffleboard, cribbage, knitting and crocheting, but mostly loved to be with all of the children as it was their joy that lifted her spirits. She was such an amazing, giving, loving, gracious, strong willed and kind soul - we inspire to be as amazing a parent and grandparent as she was to all of us.
Fly with the angels momma - We will forever be grateful for the time we had together and will honour you by sharing our love and guidance with our children as you did with us. You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. Love you. Rest in Peace.
