In loving memory ~
Fred died surrounded by the loving care of family in his home in Sproule Creek, ending his life where he always wanted to be. And what a life: beloved husband, father and grandfather, bookseller, children's book author, luthier, wood turner, sawmill worker, scholar, community activist, trade unionist, amateur astronomer. Fred's interests and abilities ranged wide and touched many in the community
Following his UC Berkley days studying Electrical Engineering (and Icelandic Literature!) Fred joined the migration north and made his way to Nelson by 1971, where he established his life, built a home in Sproule Creek and raised a family.
Fred is survived by his wife, Heather, his children, Steffan and Megan, step-children, Paul, Kelly and Sarah Fawcett, and grandchildren, Elizobath, Isaiah, Ecco, Jonah, Emma and Sophie, as well as his 3 siblings and their families.
A celebration of Fred's life will be held at 2pm on December 11th at Taghum Hall. Donations in Fred's name to Dying with Dignity Canada would be gratefully received.
