Gail was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on March 17, 1937.
With family by her side, she passed away in Nelson, British Columba on August 21, 2020.
Gail was predeceased by her parents Peter and Helen Gilchrist.
Gail and her family moved to Nelson in 1943. She attended elementary school in Retalack, BC where her father was employed by Whitewater Mine. Gail's high school years were at Kaslo High School and Gail and her family moved to Ainsworth in 1953.
Gail was married in June 1955 to Clifford Hartland. She remained in Ainsworth raising a young family, then moved to Kaslo in 1964. She began working for Canada Post before moving on to the Bank of Montreal and then to the Kaslo Credit Union where she became Credit Union manager. After her banking career she went to work for the Jones Boys Boats in Kaslo and then at Woodbury as an account manager. Gail worked many years for the Jones Boys before finally retiring in 2012 at the age of 75 years.
Gail was very active in her younger years volunteering with the Kaslo Kinettes and the Kaslo Curling Club. As she got older, she enjoyed travelling to warmer climates and she enjoyed bowling. One of her favorite things was a family potluck at the Bobtail where she enjoyed family and friends and always loved a cold Bud Lite on the beach.
She spent her last years living in Nelson, residing at Lakeview Village.
Gail is survived by her son Bradley, daughter Shellee (Vince), sister Darleen (Flash), grandchildren Jonathon, Mathew (Miranda), Joel (Kali), Sage, Catalina, Ember and her great-grandson Roman. Gail also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Gail enjoyed her connections with many close friends through Facebook.
Thank you to the wonderful staff and all her friends at Lakeview Village and a special thank you to the doctors and staff for their kindness and care at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
Gail's cremated remains will be interred with her mother and father in the Kaslo cemetery.
