With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our Dad, Gary Verdon Gilker, on December 5th, 2023.
Dad was born in Trail B.C. on January 16th, 1939. He lived in so many places. Long Beach, California, Princeton, Nakusp, Nelson, Kaslo, Black Creek, Comox, Storrie Beach and finally, Victoria. He was a remarkable man and well-loved man. A man of many talents, he could do anything. He was an amazing husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to so many.
Dad worked as a heavy-duty mechanic, but mined, welded, and travelled to many places in this wonderful world. He was the ultimate jokester, he could make a statue laugh, and a storyteller, the remarkable, many, and colourful stories he told! He will be missed by so many.
A celebration of life will be held here in Victoria, as well as one in Nelson, which will be announced at a later date.
Dad will be interred with his beloved wife, Peggy, and infant son, Grant.
