In loving memory ~

Gene has been my partner in love and life for 50 years. We had many adventures, but it was the sharing of daily companionship and the many challenges that must be faced together in this human life that added strength to our bond and deepened our love and respect for each other. Gene enjoyed his time as an instructor at the Kootenay School of the Arts and was a very creative artist skilled in watercolour, acrylics, wood engravings, and pen and ink. Music, however, was his primary passion. He was a self-taught acoustic guitar player and most enjoyed working on his own compositions. I will miss so much hearing him practise. Our family of 5 cocker spaniels over the years were his much loved companions, enjoying long walks together. They nourished his soul with their love, loyalty, and silliness. Gene was a great storyteller and had many to share from his varied and interesting life experiences. Friends and family have shared their many memories of Gene which include: "having a peculiar outlook, unshakeable loyalty, a dry and mischievous wit, was unique, irreplaceable, gruff, quirky, and the best friend I often wanted to strangle with silk sheets, but life will never give me another friend as precious." A favourite quote of Genes' was from a film called The Bridge On The River Kwai: "Yes, there's always the unexpected isn't there?"

Gene is survived by his loving partner, Susan Fisher and his many family members and friends in Canada and the US.

At Gene's request there will not be a service. If so inclined, please make a donation to a charity of your choice, raise a glass in his memory or share a good story with the people you love.
