December 15, 1942 - June 9, 2019
With a heavy heart we announce the passing of George Fred Strukoff. George passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Sunday, June 9th 2019 at the age of 76.
Born in Nelson hospital on December 15th 1942 to Fred and Lucy Strukoff. George was raised in Taghum BC, where he inherited his gardening skills and an artistic hand. It was also the place where George honed his outdoor skills, applying his keen eye to scoping an elk on the hill or quietly revealing a flint chip on the flats.
No stranger to hard work or a challenge, he proved by hand digging the basement in his family home on Fell Street. George worked his entire life as an equipment operator, beginning his career on a rock crusher in his teens and retiring as a renowned expert grader operator.
George was predeceased by his wife, Jeanne, and survived by his loving siblings, Fred (Loretta) Strukoff, Polly Marchischuk (Charlie Salekin), his children Gordon, Shanon Shore (Craig), and Tom(Juli Menard), grandsons James, Nathan, Nicolas, and many neices and nephews.
George will be remembered for his bright smile and sharp sense of humor and surely be missed by his many friends and family.
Service will be held 11 am Tuesday, June 18th at Thompson Funeral Home. Burial and memorial with tea to follow. (Hall yet to be determined). In lieu of flowers, please donate to the food bank or participate in a random act of kindness.
