December 14, 1934 - May 3, 2019
George was born in the old Kootenay Lake Hospital, the youngest son of Honora Christina Murphy of Kaslo and George Edwin Trainor of Kinkora, Prince Edward Island. He attended St. Josephs Academy and Notre Dame College in Nelson, Christ the King Seminary in Burnaby, Southern Alberta Technical School in Calgary, and then hired on at the Canadian Pacific Railway, where he worked as a brakeman and conductor for 35 years.
In his youth he excelled at hockey, lacrosse, basketball and was a great left handed pitcher for many teams. He loved the outdoors and his fishing and camping trips.
He met the love of his life, Evelyn Riesterer in first grade, where they sat across the aisle from each other, and their romance continued through the years. His brother, Monsignor Les Trainor married them in the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate on July 15, 1957.
They were blessed with eight "jewels" - Carey Michelle (Dennis Tank), George Robert (Lisa Bolen), Shauna-Marie (Eric Eggers), Leslie Gerard (Shauna Shalley), Jennifer Rosaleen (Dave Scott), Noraleigh Ann (Howie Steele), Aileen Marisa (Dean Zarikoff), Maryjean Louisa (Scott Le Buke).
George was a lifetime member of the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, serving as Bishop Martin Johnsons alter server throughout his school years. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and Foresters.
His main job in the summer was driving his eight children to their various swim meets, which lasted for 20 years.
George was a humble, caring, and trustworthy man, full of fun, and his wit and contagious laugh will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Most Reverend Les Trainor, sisters Kay McGauley, and sister Rosaleen Trainor C.S.J.P., and is survived by his wife and soulmate Evelyn, sister Aileen Trainor C.S.J.P., eight children, 20 grandchildren – Aaron Eggers (Patti Jean), Sarah Eggers (Justin Remple), Tanya Eggers (Kevin Briggeman) Ryan Keller (Brittany), Jamie Keller (Phil Allen), Geri Trainor (Wayde Hicks), Merisa Trainor (Dan Butler), George M. Trainor, Katlyn Trainor, Les Trainor, Jordan, Braeden and Ashley Zarikoff, Kaleigh Scott (Dan Donald), Kelsie Scott (Mike Larsen), Shayne Scott (Rachel), Reath and Bryan Trainor and Bailey and James Le Buke.
