Georgie Defoe, wife, mother, grandmother, former golf widow, and retired Registered Nurse died peacefully in Vancouver on March 25 2011. Predeceased in 2007 by her husband of 56 years, Ernie, the love of her life. Georgie is survived by her son Alan (Paulette) of Trail BC, daughters Tracy (Ray) and Laurel (Angelo) of Vancouver and grandchildren Stefan and Marc, Richard and Steven, Alexis and Daniel. Also by her nephew Peter Defeo (Mary) and Frankie and Connor of Nelson.
Born in McGregor MB and raised in South Slocan and Nelson BC, Georgie was predeceased by her parents George and Florence Hunt, her step-father Sinclair McInnis, big brother Tommy Hunt and kindred spirit step-sister Rae Lorenzo.
A graduate of the Royal Columbian Hospital School of Nursing, Georgie’s nursing career was mostly at the BC Cancer Control Agency. Georgie was an avid reader, a great cook and a world-class friend and neighbour who knew how to tell a story and write a real letter. She will be keenly missed by her family, friends, an extended community of satisfied diners and a chosen few regular correspondents.
A memorial celebrating the life of Georgie Defoe will be held Saturday April 2 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at the Heritage Hall, 3102 Main Street, Vancouver.
