September 9, 2020
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Grace McCulloch (Woods) of Procter, BC, who died suddenly at the age of 60 on September 9, 2020.
Grace spent her whole life in the Kootenays. She grew up in Trail but spent her summers at her family's cabin on the lake in Harrop.
She spent her adult life living on the Procter side of the lake, working on the Ferry and living in the country where she surrounded herself with the dogs, horses and other animals she loved so much.
In 1989 she met Jack and they were soon married and built a beautiful life together for more than 30 years. Grace was always surrounded by family and friends. Her home was the hub for everyone she loved, and the big beautiful deck at their home was often filled with people seeking her warmth.
Food was always on the barbeque, cold beer was always in the fridge, and laughter was always echoing off the mountains. Grace loved her home, and she loved to travel - to Scotland, to the East coast, to Prince Rupert for fishing - but I remember once she said: "my favourite places are people" and nothing could better describe her. I cannot even begin to imagine how many people lost their best friend that day.
Grace is pre-deceased by her parents Bessie and John Woods. She leaves behind her best friend and husband, Jack. She also leaves behind her step-children Brad (James, Courtney), Brenda (Gus) and Cheri (Brittni, Sammi); her sister Cathy (Laurryn, Lindsey, Matthew, Kate, Brooke); brother Jack and sister-in-law Jan (Casey, Jason, Molly); and sister Jeannie and brother-in-law Harold (Jackie, Jill, Johnny).
Grace was our source of unconditional love and support - truly our greatest cheerleader. She was our source of adventure and joy. She was our saviour when we needed support and the person we turned to when we wanted to have a whole lot of fun.
She was a devoted wife, an amazing step-Mom, the best Nana to her grandchildren, a loving sister to her siblings, an amazing Auntie to all of her nieces and nephews, and a true friend to many. Our hearts are broken and we will miss her beyond words.
We hope it wont be too long, perhaps the spring, when everyone who knew and loved her can gather together safely in celebration of Gracie's life.
