Gregory David St. George, 51, of Nelson, BC passed away on February 27, 2024, at Kootenay Lake Hospital.
Greg was born on April 6, 1972, in Sudbury, ON to Marcel St. Georges and Madeline (Sparling) St. Georges. He grew up in Chelmsford, ON where he attended high school and was on the wrestling team. After graduation, he moved to Toronto, ON where he got into powerlifting. Greg moved to Vancouver, BC and eventually made his way to Kelowna, BC. In 2004 he placed best overall in the Western powerlifting championship. He began to work training other powerlifters and became a coach for the Canadian powerlifting team and took Ebony Rutko to the world powerlifting championship in Bulgaria in 2006. In 2005 Greg met his wife Corinne (Johnson) St. George and they were married in 2007. They eventually moved to Alberta where their son Hunter St. George was born in 2010. Greg and Corinne moved back to BC in 2015. In 2017 Greg got the job as manager of the Nelson Leafs Recycling Centre. He is survived by his wife Corinne and their son Hunter St. George of Nelson, BC, his brothers Wayne St. George and Tom (Jackie) St. Georges of Kelowna, BC, his sister Darlene St. Georges of Lethbridge, AB, his father Marcel St. Georges of Chelmsford, ON and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his Mother Madeline St. Georges.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at the Nelson Rod and Gun Club.
