June 8, 1926 - August 1, 2018
It is with saddened hearts, the family of Gwenyth Wynn (Gwen) Buerge announce her passing. Gwen passed peacefully on August 1, 2018 at Kootenay Lake Hospital. She was born in Nelson to Ivor and Winifred Jones of South Slocan on June 8, 1926. Gwen was a Corporal in the Women's Army Corp at the end of WWII. She married Ivar Melvin (Mel) Buerge on

October 15, 1949. As well as raising her children, Mark and Susan, Gwen enjoyed bowling, curling, golfing, boating, camping, fishing and her cabin at Queen's Bay. She was an avid gardener, receiving accolades from Nelson's Mayors on her beautiful flowers. Many of her friends grew tomatoes started in her green house.

Gwen had volunteered at Jubilee Manor. She also enjoyed crocheting, and knitting, with the KLH Auxiliary receiving numerous baby outfits.

Gwen is survived by her sister, Bernice Jones of Nelson, her son Mark (Kerry) of Riverview, New Brunswick and her daughter Susan (Dean Fair) of Salmo. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Dr. Andre Kirsten, the nurses and the staff at KLH for their compassionate care.

A private ceremony was held August 12, 2018. As an expression of condolence, donations may be made to Gwen's favorite charities: the BCSPCA and the KLH Auxiliary.
