July 9, 1936 - September 11, 2021
Harry was born on July 9, 1936 in Greenwood, BC. He died peacefully on September 11, 2021 with his wife by his side.
In his early years, Harry worked in the forestry industry and then went on to work for Inland Natural Gas in Nelson and Prince George. He married Verna in May, 1960 and they settled in Nelson where they built the home they lived in for over forty years raising their two sons and watching their grandchildren grow. Harry worked for Celgar for the next twenty years. Then he found his true calling as an instructor at Selkirk College teaching
the Millwright Apprentice Program. Along with a colleague, he went on to develop the Building Systems Technology Program. This program became well known throughout Western Canada. Harry was an excellent instructor and was highly regarded and respected by his students and co- worders.
Harry and Verna enjoyed travelling throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, Caribbean, the British Isles, Ireland, and the United States as well as Canada. They also spent many happy winter months in Freeport, Grand Bahamas.
Harry was a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion where he held various positions on the executive board as well as acting as their general repair man. He was also a member of the Gyro Club and looked forward to dinner meetings with his friends. Harry loved his garden and spent many hours creating a park like setting for their home on Houston Street.
Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Verna, his sons, Jeffery, Terry (Jennifer) and grandchildren, Riley, Rebeka, Jessica and Rachel.
Harry's family would like to thank the caregivers and nursing staff in Diamond Cottage at Mountain Lakes Senior Home for their loving and compassionate care during the year he spent with them.
