February 24, 1919 - June 13, 2018
It is with deep sadness the family of Harry Vernon Jarvis announces his passing peacefully on June 13, 2018 at Jubilee Manor in Nelson BC at the age of 99.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Raymond and Robert, His first wife Hazel Jarvis (Nee Lucas) of 8 years. His second wife Winnifred Jarvis (nee Allen,nee Valcourt) of 44 years and his 2 step sons - Ronnie Valcourt ( Roxanne) and Denis Valcourt( Nancy).

His presence will be greatly missed by many especially his daughters, Susan Snow, Gary (deceased), Marjorie McCuaig , Stuart (deceased),Hazel & Helmut Ratz. His son, Allan Jarvis, Barbara (Deceased). His stepchildren, Paul & Dawn Valcourt, Garey and Maggie Valcourt, Bernie & Maureen Valcourt, Lorraine & Gord Cade, Maurice & Joanne Valcourt. And many Grand (20), Great(23) and Great Great grandchildren(3).

Harry started life in Brantford Ontario born to Vernon and Mabel Jarvis. Where he met and married Hazel Lucas Sept 3 1943. He was a veteran of the 2nd world war.

Harry moved to Richmond BC in 1952 with all his children, where he was a milkman until he started with the BC liquor control board where he worked until he retired. He transferred to Nelson BC in June of 1966 where he met Winnifred Valcourt in 1969 and married Feb 14 1974.

He enjoyed working with his horses by training them and taking everyone for a ride in his buggies. He often went to horse shows. He also enjoyed bowling for many years. Sunday was a day for drives around the area and if anyone came to visit they where included in these excursions. He and Winnie liked to travel as long as it was by ground.

Harry always had a quick wit that sometimes-surprised people, but always made them smile. He was quiet and unpresuming most of the time, staying in the background letting others take the lime light but he had his moments when he came out with zingers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Thompson Funeral Home, 613 Ward Street Nelson BC with a tea to follow.
