January 25, 2022
In loving memory ~
It is with profound sadness we have to announce the peaceful passing of Hattie early in the morning of January 25, 2022. Hattie was born in Castlegar in 1924. She is predeceased by her husband Peter. Together they built a beautiful home in Blewett. One known for great food, kindness and love. Everyone was always welcome in her home and no one left hungry. Hattie was talented especially when it came to handcrafts and gardening. Hattie is survived by her sisters Vera and Molly, her son Ted (Shirley), daughter Joyce (Don) and son Ron (Hilary), grandchildren Trevor (Glenna), Darrel (Jocelyn), Pamela (Jason), David (Ken), Roger (Jenna), and Laura (Darren) and great-grandchildren Carli, Ellyse (Mark), Bryce, Ephrem, Gwendolyn, Whitley, Alina, and Maevyn. And also several nieces and nephews.
We are very grateful to the family members and friends who helped care for Hattie these past few years. In addition, the home care workers and doctors who came to the house making it possible for her to stay at home until a couple days before she passed.
Hattie was laid to rest at Nelson Memorial Park Cemetery next to Peter. Due to the COVID-19 situation there was just a small gathering of immediate family. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
