Iris Annie Turner

February 11, 1931 – October 14, 2022
In loving memory ~
Iris Annie Turner (born Sanders) passed quietly the morning of October 14, 2022, on a beautiful, bright, blue-sky, one last hoorah
for summer, day. Iris was born February 11, 1931 in Ruthilde, Saskatchewan and lived in Nelson, BC since 1938.
On August 25, 1950 she had her first date with Ken Turner and one year later, to the day, they were married. Children soon followed with four boys, Barry (1952), Glen (1954), Dean (1957) and Randy (1960). They started their lives together on Third Street, and after a few moves in town bought and moved to Shady Lane Cabins at Six Mile in 1958, which they ran together for many years. Iris was proud of her work as a Sheriff with BC Sheriff Services at the Nelson Courthouse and brought her strength and kindness to this challenging role.
As the children grew and life provided more time, Iris was always active and enjoyed curling leagues, golf, and winters down south with Ken to enjoy the sun and time with friends. Retirement in 1984 meant living again at Shady Lane, full time. Summers were spent on the lake, and her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will carry the special memories she created for them there.
Iris approached her home, her work, and her family with unresolving commitment, honesty and a love and strength that radiated to all who knew her. She will be remembered by so many, including her three surviving siblings, her four children, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as lifelong friends. Those who love her and mourn her passing are comforted that she is together again with Ken, who she has looked for every day since his passing. May they feel the warmth of the sun on their faces as they walk by the lake, together again, and always.
A celebration of her life will be held at a future date.Obituary
