Jim was born in Fife, B.C. 90 years ago. He left us all on Sunday, September 4th due to lung cancer. He was a very good man who worked hard most of his life. After being in the Army for a short time, he started working for TECK in Trail, B.C. for 45 years. He got married in Trail to his wife Jean Hewlett 64 years ago and they have three children; daughters Diane McFarland (Len) of North Vancouver, Joanne Johnson (Len) of Campbell River, and son Michael Melatini (Carol) of Delta, and five grandchildren; Angela, Ryan, Curtis, Johanna, and Dustin. Jim retired to Naramata 30 years ago and had time to travel, garden, and play golf. He was an active member of St. Saviour’s Church in Penticton and in Trail he was a member of the Colombo Lodge, St. Andrew’s Church, and the Legion for 60 years and loved skiing at Red Mountain. His sister Dora Longfoot from Tsawwassen will miss him immensely. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, Septmeber 10th at St. Saviour’s Church, 150 Orchard Ave, Penticton, BC, V2A 1X8 at 11:30 am. Donations can be made in James’ name to The Penticton Regional Hospital Kidney Department at 550 Carmi Ave, Penticton, BC V2A 3G6.
