Joan Audrey Sherriff (nee McCuish) passed away at Mountain Lake Seniors Community in Nelson, BC on August 16, 2020 at 101 years.
Joan was born February 28, 1919 on the family farm near Watts, AB. She attended school in that area before leaving to join the CWAC during WWII. She attended the University of Manitoba and obtained a degree in Architecture.
Joan moved to Ottawa in 1952 where she found work with the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development.
Joan married Norman Sherriff in 1958, and the couple had a child, Eric, in 1959. In 1961 they moved to Red Deer, Alberta.
Joan was a stay at home mom during the 60s and 70s, but she was also a serious amateur competitor in golf and bridge. In the 80's Joan worked with Norm at building a country home near Bowden. They moved to Victoria in 1992, remaining there until 2002 when she returned to Calgary.
In Calgary Joan lived near Eric's family and her sisters Jean, Joyce and Betty. In 2012 Joan moved to Nelson in 2011 where Eric now lived.
Joan is survived by her sister Margaret, her son Eric, daughter-in-law Valerie, and grandchildren Hayley, Laurel, Garrett, and Colleen. J
oan was predeceased by her husband Norm, her parents Rufus and Mable (nee Hawkins), her brothers Aubrey and Malcolm, and her sisters Jean, Betty, Lois, and Joyce.
