Joan Ola Marion Darough

December 30, 2016

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Joan Ola Marion Darough on December 30, 2016 in Kelowna, BC. Born in Westlock, Alberta on May 22, 1935. Joan grew up in Vernon, BC, where she married Bud Darough in 1955, and her two children Lorie & Glen were born. The family moved to North Vancouver in 1961 and then to Nelson in 1970. Upon Bud’s retirement in 2002 they relocated to Kelowna. Over the years Joan enjoyed bowling (she became a Canadian Recreational 10-Pin Bowling Champion while living in North Vancouver) golfing Granite Pointe, extensive travelling, spending time with friends including many Nelson Gyro Club events and conventions, and completed thousands of crossword puzzles. Mom is well-remembered for having some pretty quick wit and always enjoyed a good joke.

Joan is survived by her husband Bud, daughter Lorie (Dave) Buss, son Glen (Tammy), grandchildren Andrew, Michael, Allison, Chelan, Doug, and Kate.

No service upon request. Those wishing to make a donation in Joan’s memory may do so to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation or charity of choice.
