It is with great sadness the family of Joanna Carol Joy deGans (nee Perasso) announces her passing on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 in Kamloops BC.
Joanna was born on December 19, 1935 in Nelson BC to parents John "Shorty" and Fannie Perasso.
While teaching in Edgewood BC Joanna met the love of her life Donald deGans. They were married on July 2, 1960. The couple eventually settled in Rossland BC where they raised their children Douglas, Brian and Kari-Ann. Joanna's career included teaching special needs children, being a tour guide at the LeRoi Mining Museum and a cashier at Red Mountain Ski Hill.
She loved children and was "Mom" to many. Don and Joanna retired to Chilliwack BC in 1995. After Don's passing on May 25, 2015 Mom decided to move to Kamloops to be closer to her grand-daughters and great grandchildren. She loved her apartment and enjoyed her time in Kamloops.
She was predeceased by her parents John and Fannie Perasso, her husband of 54 years Donald deGans in 2015, infant son David in 1965, as well as siblings Dora Kesler and Gerry Perasso.
Joanna will be missed by her sons Douglas deGans, Brian (Glady) deGans, and daughter Kari-Ann (Clifford) Pogany. Grandchildren Benjamin, Amy, Taymer, Cassandra, Cody, Nicholas, Amanda and Brandi.
Great-grandchildren Seth, Luna and Takoda. Brother Fred Perasso, Sister in-law Eileen Prough and Brother in-law Roy (Betty) deGans.
